Native coin

The base asset of a blockchain, used to pay transaction fees and secured directly by the protocol (e.g., BTC on Bitcoin, ETH on Ethereum, TRX on Tron).

  • In investigations that move only tokens, the native coin still matters: every token transfer needs gas (or an equivalent fee) paid in the native asset. Following where that gas came from, who funded the fee-paying address, and how fee wallets were topped up can supply evidence that the token trail alone does not show.
